WHAT IS REACH 2022?

EU REACH applies to all chemical compounds; not just those used in industrial processes but also in our day-to-day life, for example in household cleaners, paints, as well as goods such as clothing and shoes, household equipment, cosmetics, and pigments used in permanent makeup (PMU) and body tattoo.

The EU regulation aims to ban the use of specified compounds in tattoo inks and permanent make up pigments that are known to have specific hazardous qualities that increase the likelihood that someone would be injured.

The ban includes, for example, compounds that damage cells or genetic alterations, as well as substances that are hazardous to reproduction and skin sensitizers and irritants.

The goal is not to outlaw tattooing, but rather to make perma blend ingredients used in tattoo pigments and permanent make up pigments more safe to use.
